A Kissimmee truck accident involving three semis leaves two injured when one of the trucks blows a front tire. The incident took place at approximately 12:30 AM on Tuesday morning, January 12, 2010, on the Florida Turnpike.
According to authorities, an 18-wheeler blew a front tire along the Florida Turnpike causing a Target semi-tractor trailer to slam into the back of it. The force of the impact caused the Target truck to burst into flames. The Florida Highway Patrol indicated that they believe that the fire was caused by damage sustained by the refrigerator in the Target truck.
Rescue crews transported the occupants of the Target truck, a driver and his brother, to a nearby hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained in the wreck. Their injuries were described as non-life threatening.
A third big rig was also involved in the accident, as it hit debris from the collision of the first two trucks. The fuel system of the truck sustained damage.
There were no other injuries reported in the crash.
Commuters were inconvenienced for approximately six hours, as crews cleaned up the accident along the turnpike, including a 200-gallon diesel fuel spill, according to authorities.
The Kissimmee accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
