An Orange County auto accident involving two vehicles may be a result of an illegal street race. The incident took place on Wednesday morning, January 20, 2010, near Silver Star Road and Hiawassee Road.
According to Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes, witnesses outside of the Silver Hills Apartments saw a white Cadillac and a black BMW racing around midnight. The BMW apparently lost control and flipped over. The BMW then slid into a traffic control box and finally coming to a stop after it hit a metal fence.
Witnesses said they saw two men exit the BMW. One of them got into the Cadillac while the second person hopped into a white Dodge Magnum. Both vehicles fled the scene before police arrived. The BMW was reported as being stolen.
As police were taking statements, one of the witnesses saw the Cadillac driving down the road. Police stopped the car at Hiawassee Road and Almena Street and identified the driver as 22-year-old Kyle Jay Baronville.
Police discovered marijuana, cocaine and a handgun inside the Cadillac and arrested Baronville. Police also discovered blood spatters inside of the Cadillac and believe that someone may have been injured in the incident.
The Orange County car accident is still under investigation. However, investigators have not confirmed whether the accident was a result of an illegal street race.
